On August 28, 2026, Italian artist and illustrator Giada Negri will be in New York for a special live drawing session at Sullaluna NYC, the Italian bookshop and bistrot in Greenwich Village.
From 6:00 to 6:30 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to watch Giada create a drawing from scratch and see her distinctive visual world emerge directly on paper.
A journey from reality into imagination
Giada Negri’s work moves between figurative art and surrealism, combining highly realistic details with a dreamlike universe deeply connected to childhood, imagination and storytelling.
Her characters often begin with something familiar — a face, an expression, an apparently ordinary detail — before leading the viewer somewhere unexpected.
The event at Sullaluna offers the opportunity to experience this creative process in real time.
Rather than a traditional exhibition, Live Drawing at Sullaluna NYC is conceived as an intimate and informal encounter with the artist: thirty minutes to watch a new drawing take shape, discover Giada’s technique and meet the person behind the work.
From Italy to New York
The event is one of Giada Negri’s creative stops during her visit to New York, where she will spend several days discovering the city’s contemporary art and illustration scene and connecting with its creative community.
The setting has a special connection with Giada’s world. Sullaluna, born in Venice and now also present in New York, brings together books, illustration, food and Italian culture — creating a meeting point between visual storytelling and the international atmosphere of Greenwich Village.
